Throughout our history, the president was the chief patriot of our people. Even Jimmy Carter, as weak of a president as he was, understood that the United States is the beacon of freedom and that he was the leader of the free world. To the contrary, President Obama is anything but a leader. It appears in some ways that he despises the country that he is the president of and prefers to follow the lead of foreign dictators and the United Nations.
Even Jimmy Carter showed leadership capabilities. When there was turmoil in the Middle East, Carter took the lead and had the Egyptian President Muhammad Anwar al-Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin meet with him at Camp David. This meeting, which lasted 13 days, produced a peace agreement between the two countries that is still in effect today. Even though in the overall scheme of things the Carter presidency was a major failure, Carter made an effort to lead the Middle East to peace. On the other hand, Obama appears to be preoccupied with N.C.A.A. basketball brackets, playing golf, partying with the legends of Motown, selling out America in Brazil, and kicking off his re-election bid as the Middle East burns. It seems that Obama’s Idea of leadership is to disregard the sovereignty of the United States as a nation, the Constitution of the United States as the supreme law of the land, and look to the United Nations as the governing power of the United Stated instead of the Constitution, congress and the people of the United States.
Obama’s apparent dislike of the United States became obvious when during his first week as president; Obama toured the world apologizing for America’s arrogance. Of course, with Obama spending his childhood years in the third world country of Indonesia, he may not have learned about the “arrogant” United States with our allies liberating France from Nazi oppression. The schools he attended might not have taught about the “arrogant” United States pumping billions of dollars into war torn Europe to help those countries rebuild after World War 2. In 1966, Obama probably would have thought that the arrogant attitude of then French President Charles De Gaulle was right when he demanded that all American troops on French soil must leave to remove any trace of U.S. military presence. Of course, Obama like De Gaulle would have forgotten about the thousands of “arrogant” American solders buried in French soil fighting to liberate France in two World Wars. Let us not forget the “arrogance” of the United States as President Reagan told the oppressive communist Soviet dictator Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin wall. Reagan’s “arrogant” leadership led to the fall of communism in Eastern Europe. Obama’s distain for America and her people continued during the 2010 election campaign as he called the American people the enemy. However, his most egregious attack on America came last week when he threatened to veto a house resolution to pay the military.
The United States has become the laughing stock of the world thanks to Obama. Can you imagine the behind his back laughter that occurred when Obama went to the United Nations to complain about one of his states trying to help him enforce the immigrations laws like Arizona did? In 2008, the American people may have voted for “Hope and Change”. However, I do not believe that they agreed to the Obama hope that the United States should end her role as the leader of the free world nor did they agree to the Obama idea that the United States should change from being a free country to a socialist dictatorship led by the United Nations.
