The author of that statement obviously is too young to know the facts. Yes , it’s true that Ronald, Dutch, Reagan was a sportscaster at WHO radio station in Des Moines Iowa. Yes, it is true that Ronald Reagan stared in a few World War Two training films for our troops,and later he stared in a few B grade movies with a chimp named Bonzo. So, I suppose he was a celebrity however, that is not the reason he was elected president. First he was a celebrated two term governor of California. In 1964 he campaigned for Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater the staunch conservative Republican nominee for president. As we know, the incumbent President ol big ears Lyndon Johnson won that election by a landslide. In 1976, he tried to unseat President Ford during the Republican primary. He came close but Gerald Ford won the nomination but lost the election to a dumbass peanut farmer named Jimmy Carter. By the election of 1980, we were suffering with double digit inflation, double digit unemployment, double digit prime interest rates. Also, there were 52 Americans being held hostage by Muslims in IRAN. Reagan beat Carter in a double digit landslide. Four years later, 1984, Reagan had inflation down under 10% and sliding down fast. The prime interest rate was down to 9 percent and falling. Unemployment was at 3% one of the lowest in peacetime ever. Oh yes those 52 hostages, they came home while Reagan was being sworn in. Walter Mondale, Carter’s Vice President, won the democratic nomination that year. ……. Nobody has ever equaled the asskicking Reagan gave to Mondale as Reagan carried 49 of 50 states.
Donald Trump has the potential to come close to Reagan as some of his promises have already been fulfilled with 3 days left until he’s sworn into office.

I’ve said it before, you are so knowledgeable about your the politics that you love so, you should get your degree and teach at the college level. You would be awesome at it. By the way, I watched Reagan in a western on Monday, what was it called, it was a half hour show, Death Valley? 🙂

I was only replying to the part of the statement that said he was a wonderful president. Perhaps, I should not have copied the complete quote.
And let them Dems run Clint Eastwood I will vote for him 🙂 . I won’t vote for Micky Mouse, Rosie O’ Donald, Meryl Streep, or Oprah!

Clint,Go ahead make my day, Eastwood? Nope. No way. Clint is a staunch conservative Republican. The multi-term Mayor of Carmela California, has been the featured guest speaker at the Republican National Convention in 2012 and 2016. 🙂 But, there are others. Frankly, I hope Rosie O’Donnell is stupid enough to run. Maybe that would shut her dumbass up.

What, you don’t think the Dems, would run a staunch conservative Republican? LOL. How about Tom Seleck? OK, OK, I think we need to concentrate on the next 4 years. I am hoping that Trump makes enough changes that some of these people see how stupid they have been.
